Fotofilia Portrait Photography Course

Dean
Since I attended the Fotofilia studio lighting course, I was eager to learn more and I had no hesitation booking my place for further tuition.   I secured my place for the Tuesday working day portrait course, logging annual leave to attend and booked for the Thursday evening Cyanotypes workshop.  (Cyanotypes examples will follow in my next blog update.)

If you do lack confidence with the general mechanics of your camera, and find yourself  suddenly on the spot to direct a model, you can feel very awkward and overwhelmed.  I had to aim to put insecurities of knowledge and experience aside, and to get the most from this opportunity.  It was a challenge for most of us, but, hands on guided learning was readily available, to support and encourage students.  We all noted a variety of numerous tips from our tutor.

Once again the student group had two fantastic models to help us with our learning progress.  One model had plenty of experience, posing and moving for us past any silent moments, or no direction at all provided by the photographer! (I was guilty of this many a time!!)

Our second model appeared a little nervous. When rapport and trust was gained we had a "win win" situation with both model and photographer gaining by feeling relaxed, artistic and capturing some great shots.
